A Message from the Vice President

As Vice President of Information Technology, I would like to welcome you to the USF Information Technology website.  We’re glad you’re able to join us.

At the heart of our mission, we support the USF Strategic Plan in developing and maintaining technologies and support structures that aid student access and success, expand world class interdisciplinary research and creativity, while enhancing our revenue sources. Our principle divisions within IT will provide computing resources and services to the entire USF community in direct support of research and instruction. Our intent is to listen to what you need and provide the services to the best of our ability.

As each of us is aware, every student, faculty, and staff member today that enters USF has had exposure to the information age and clearly knows about the internet. Our expectations continue to grow at an unprecedented rate. Every discipline at the University now requires information services with new and diverse applications becoming more challenging and complex to support with shrinking resources.

We must not only develop methods to enhance the delivery of these high quality services, but face the challenges and respond to the external forces of a rapidly changing information access and technology marketplace, while providing open and collaborative environments at a time when security must be foremost in our thoughts. 

Today our technology services organization juggles an immense array of support and service duties, ranging from multimedia classroom support to enhanced distributed learning environments, public computing centers, wired and wireless networks, remote access, residence hall networks, system administration of servers, e-mail, web services, database, software licensing, telephone services, to a broad array of student systems. This is no small undertaking with USF now servicing more than 46,000 students with faculty and staff in excess 10,000 employees.
